Manfaat Kunci Determinasi
Digunakan untuk menentukan makhluk hidup ke dalam
kelompok-kelompok berdasarkan kesamaan ciri. Salah satu langkah yang dapat
ditempuh untuk menentukan kelompoknya adalah dengan menyusun ciri yang
berlawanan. Pada setiap langkah terdapat dua pilihan, dua ciri yang saling
berlawanan, yang harus dipilih untuk menentukan urutan identifikasi berikutnya.
Perangkat kunci determinasi seperti ini disebut kunci dikotomi.
